Root [HELP] Phone Completely Screwed [HELP]

Wicksy24

Lurker
So my phone was super laggy so i did a quick factory reset and restored my contacts etc, Then rooted it. Then i was reading around and found a guide on how to get to 2.2.1 so i thought what the hell i'll try it. So i download all the stuff do exactly what it says and ... it just keeps getting to the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant I9000 Screen and goes black and then comes back to it again. I need the firmware for a Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant I9000M is what the box says so i can go back to default and upgrade back to 2.2 from kies. PLEASE HELP or i'm without a phone witch i need every day! Thanks in advanced! :(

Then you have to use Odin to get back to stock. It looks scary at first but it isn't too bad if you look at the video on how to first while reading.

NOOB GUIDE: HOW TO ROOT/ODIN/FLASH/RECOVER ** 02/02/11 with videos ** - xda-developers

Make sure you do a nandroid backup before using odin.

Or
Did you flash any 2.2 ROM recently? You can reflash that ROM if you can in clockwork recovery. You just hold both up and down button along with the power button until you see the vibrant screen at least 2 times.

So you tried these steps but it wouldn't go into the download mode?

"1.pull the battery out of the phone.
2.plug usb into computer
3.put the battery back in the phone
4.hold in the volume up and down
5.plug usb in to phone"

i did try that method to get into download mode and it just brings up the battery charging icon then disappears shows a spiny wheel and loops.

This may be silly to suggest you haven't already tried it, but.. did you try to go into recovery and restore nand? Will qt least get you past bootloop so you can try again.
Assuming you did a nand backup

.this has worked for me ..have never had to use odin

This just happened to me today also. Had to do the holddown on the power and volume button a few times before it actually worked.
