Root Help! Phone consistently stuck at HTC screen. Is it bricked or something?

Ok so I flashed over to Myn's Warm twopointthree Rom for the Evo 3D (absolutely my favorite ROM). I'm s-off with hboot (1.04 or something like that) I decided I wanted to try anthrax kernel (3.1.08 or something lol) with it, so I flashed over that kernel. Upon reboot, I was stuck on the HTC screen. No biggie, guess the kernel wasn't compatible with the ROM. So I went back into recovery, did a dalvik/cache wipe and went ahead and did another factory reset just to be safe, then reflashed the rom. Upon reboot again I was faced with only the white HTC screen. So I flashed SOS rom instead. Again, white HTC screen. Tried another rom, same screen.

Why is my phone no longer working? I don't see real reason this could have happened, I flash roms all the time and have never had an issue like this where no rom will boot.

Also I just noticed I've been getting this message when 4ext recovery starts, something like "SmartFlash is scheduled to update your partition upon next system start. Is this wanted? Do you want to remove SmartFlash?"

Any ideas?

Also, does anyone know what alternative kernels are compatible with Myn's Warm twopointthree rom? The 'alternative kernels' link in the rom's thread is dead. I'd like one that supports dual core and maybe overclocking. The rom is supposed to support dual core but I've never seen it actually do it so i don't think it actually does.

Anybody have any suggestions? I've tried manually doing the boot.img, flashing multiple roms, data wipes, etc. I think I'm out of options and my phone is dead.

Try wiping all partitions except sd card, then reboot recovery, wipe all partitions except sd card again, then flash a VM based Rom i suggest either Stock Rom or Mobster Rom and if your S-On make Sure Smart Flash is enabled

I'll try that now, I have Mobster ROM 2.05 on my sd card so I'll flash that one.

It might be because it isn't flashing the boot.img.
I had a similar problem. Do this while in fastboot using adb (go into boot loader and connect your phone to your PC and make sure it says fastboot USB.):

fastboot flash boot boot.img

Make sure the boot.img of the rom you flashed is in the same directory as adb.exe

I think sense rooms have beef with standalone kernels when you have your hboot downgraded.

This exact thing happened to me when I flashed a kernel over a sense ROM.

Not sure how this happened, but my phone is now gone. Bricked.

Did you do that RUU thing?

:/

I was gonna do that, but I found a much simpler solution (flashing the RUU sounds like a pain in the ass).

Pull your battery, wait 15 seconds, then put it back in.

I was in the beginning stages of the whole RUU process and then my phone shut down. It won't turn on or won't charge. Bricked as a wall :(

Luckily I have a backup Evo V 4g, Just not looking forward to going through the process of rooting and becoming s-off again.

take out your battery out and leave it for at least 5 minutes, while its out press and hold the power button for about 5 seconds do this about 3 times, now put your battery back in and connect your phone to the wall charger (don't turn it on) leave it plugged in for about 15 minutes, then try to power on your phone (or boot into bootloader)

if this doesn't work you may want to consider getting a new battery.........

most likely this will only be in your interest if you could fix your phone by flashing the Ruu which at this point isn't 100% guaranteed

Thanks for all your help! Idk what this forum would do without you sometimes haha.

But I just went ahead and switched over to my other Evo V, already got it unlocked so I'll just start over from scratch! Ah well..new beginnings can be fun :smokingsomb:
