Help Help Please!!! - Error setting up google account

Hello,

I recently purchased the HTC Desire from a friend and did a factory reset. Now I'm trying to sign in to my Google Email A/c by following the instructions, but getting the following error:

"Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues call Customer Care"

My browser works fine both on Wifi and GPRS and with both turned on i still can't get pass this. Would greatly apprecaite receiving some help on this as I cannot even access the android market :(

Hey,

Not to worry this sometimes happens best just to skip it (if your doing it from the main setup when you start the phone) and then do it in the accounts and settings menu. otherwise try just doing a simple reset and it should be ok.

Let me know if it works.

I tried both ways and still the same error message. Are you talking about a factory reset coz I did that too earlier
 
I doubt it's this, but it may be worth ruling out. I'm on T-Mobile, and had similar issues when first setting up my phone. I needed to have the Adult / Parental restrictions lifted from my account.
Christ knows why, but new accounts appear to be locked down by default and I had to phone with credit card details to prove I was over 18. Never mind that I had successfully passed a credit check to get the bleeding thing on contract in the first place.

I purchased on Taiwan made ipad (MID-7AS) from Singapore.
I did the factory reset and somehow i got the english language setup done.
Now when I'm trying to go to Android Market - I'can't setup the google account and getting error - can't establish a reliable data connection to the server.
I'm connected to wifi.
Can someone help please.

I don't think the words "ipad" and "android market" mix very well. Probably your biggest issue I would think lol
 
I don't think he's talking about an actual ipad, it sounds like android tablet. You may find slatedroid more useful ashgups.
 
Not stuff on your SD card, but everything in internal memory, which includes messages and contacts.

Backup first before a factory reset, if your phone is in a state where this is an option.
