Root Help Please: Post-root and post-2.3.3 upgrade

First off, I wanted to say that this forum was great and helpful while trying to root my Droid Incredible (2.2), it was awesome to get rid of the Verizon bloatware from my system.

That being said, having rooted my phone, and thinking myself exceptionally savvy; I upgraded my OS to 2.3.3 with the TMartinPPC Ginger Inc v1.0. Now, I've decided that I'd rather be able to go back to 2.2 and restore everything through Clockwork, but I can't boot into HBOOT now and trying to factory reset keeps me on 2.3.3.

I would appreciate any help that anyone can offer, even going so far as to say that I've screwed my phone up and need to replace it. Obviously, I'd rather not do that, but live and learn, right?

Thanks in advance for any help. If this is the wrong forum for this kind of post, please let me know.

Update:
HBOOT is working now, I'm restoring through Clockwork, hopefully that'll solve my issues.
 
Clockwork got me back to 2(1 being complete factory reset). I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not as this will give me a little more confidence in messing up my phone going forward. :)

To sum up, the 2.3.3 update I used wasn't great. My phone said I had several apps installed(including FB for HTC Sense) that did not seem to exist in my app list. Maybe it was just that version of the update, or a side effect from my phone, but I'm happier, right now, being back on 2.2 rooted.

If there's a quality Sense 3.0 update that someone can suggest I'd happily check it out.
