Four questions (i know thats alot!): the first is the biggie

1.) Is there a way to simply backup my contact list onto my PC (without using outlook, google, etc) ... im paranoid about losing my contacts.

2.) What is HTC Sync for (avaliable for download on their website)? Is this a seperate application I can run on my PC? Should I get this and why?

3.) How come none of my contacts EVER showed up on my gmail account? Is there a way I can fix this?

4.) When looking at my "people" and going into menu, it says "sync exchange contacts", what is this? There is also an option very similar in settings >> Data Synchronization ... can someone explain?

Should i be looking for an app in marketplace to help me here? Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thank you for any information - been frustrated with this. I'd be very appreciative if someone can clear this up for me. Thanks again. btw I love my eris :)

There are a couple apps that might help ... take a look at the following thread, there are a couple suggestions for apps

HTC Sync lets you synchronize Outlook or Windows Address Book (Outlook Express) contacts on your PC. This could also be an option for your 1st question.

menu > Settings > Data synchronization > Google. If you want to to sync on its own, make sure Auto-sync is checked. To force a sync, press the setting you want sync'd (Gmail, Calendar, or Contacts).

I dont have an outlook account, so I dont use this sync. I would assume they are one in the same, but I am not sure. Hopefully someone else knows the answer
