Lurker
Hi, I know this is gonna sound weird, but I need help unlocking a lg optimus m. It doesn't belong to me it belongs to my little sister and it is protected with a drawn password. She has disappeared and we are hoping that if we were able to get into her phone we could get some information as to where she may be. She is in serious danger. If anyone knows a way to get into her phone with out losing all of the information on it, I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Give the phone to your local authorities. That's the best I can tell you because what you're asking for might be a breach of the rules. Anyone have a link to the forum rules?

It isn't a stolen phone, but thanks. I am just a very concerned older sister. My sister has been reported as run away but clearly you've never dealt with the cops on a issue like this. And maybe they are different in other place but in florida cops just don't care. I could turn the phone over to them and not a damn thing would be done with it.

If I stole the phone I wouldn't give a damn if the information on it would be erased or not. I want to save the information from last phone calls and texts in hope that it will help my family track down my sister......before she ends up dead.

if your sister is a runaway then she is under age, which means that phone is in moms name, she has rights to the information on the phone, but you already knew that right.
. ..anyways dnt come here looking for someone to break the law for you.:)

the phone is metro which I don't even know if she had to have my mom to set it up. My mom called me to find out what she could do and I turned here (I have no idea about anything andriod, I iphone). And I had no idea it was "breaking the law" to try to get into her phone. I'm a nurse. She sixteen and 80lbs with a drug problem. I'm not really concerned with her rights, I'm trying to save her life.

I think my mom knows her gmail and possibly her password.

Use that to login to the phone. There is an option. Other than that, record the phone, you giving it to police and how long it takes them to find results. You want to hold us accountable for something the government should be doing, which I highly doubt. From the beginning of this thread I thought stolen phone or jealous boyfriend/stalker. That is all.

If a phone is locked with a pattern lock and the individuals Gmail username and password are not known, typically the only way to get past that is through the use of a factory data reset. This will erase the contents of the phone so if you're thinking that accessing the phone will provide clues you'll be out of luck.

If your mother parent has access to her Gmail username and password then you're better off providing that information to law enforcement to pursue as part of their investigation. In a missing persons investigation, law enforcement needs to be primary in the investigation. Trying to conduct your own investigation may do little more than compromise potential evidence. As such I highly recommend that you provide this locked phone and Gmail account information to law enforcement. Law Enforcement may also have methods beyond what is available to Android enthusiasts for accessing pattern locked smartphones...

Another way to get access to the last phone calls and text messages sent/received on the phone is through her wireless carrier. Getting this information, however, typically requires a court order.

Since there is, unfortunately, nothing further that we Android enthusiasts can do to assist in this situation, I feel compelled to close this thread.
