Root Help...... please!!

First I would like to say thanks in advance. My problem is my phone keeps randomly selecting things. It is almost like I have an invisable c hand that only intention is to troll me. I am using mikaim 3.11 or whatever its called. The problem started right after i flashed and ics theme. So, I went back to an old nandroid cleard cache and what not. The problem still didnt go away. I once again cleared cache and went to another known working nandroid. Still with no results. Then I figured I might have somehow currupted the rom. I then flashed superwipe from .zip twice then flashed the rom which i just redownloaded. Still nothing..... I then figured i might have a calibration issue so i re-calibrated EVERYTHING!!! still nothing. I am not at a loss and have dried up my thinking tank. Is there anything else that I can try or is it time to flash the stock rom and unroot and take it to the lovly people at sprint?

I have not tried another rom but have tested it on older versions of the rom. I have tried v3.1 and 3.0 both fell short on resolving the issue. I am starting to believe its a hardware issue.
 
Hi there, I moved you to the Root section where you will get much faster responses.


It sounds to me like its a hardware issue. If you have insurance or are willing to pay for it to get fixed I would go ahead and get the stock software back on there. If that fixes the problem you know it was something to do with the ROM.

Is there any place that I can download the stock rom? Is there some guied that explains how to unroot the phone. Im sure they wont take it with s-off.

Yes at the top of the all things root forum where this thread is now, there is a thread called the all things root guide. Click on that and scroll down to the roms and kernels download page, in there you will find links for all of the stock rooted roms.

Once downloaded, place on the root of the SD card, not in any folders, boot to recovery. Wipe the cache, dalvik cache, factory reset and system. Select flash, then choose zip from SD and choose the stock Rom zip.

No worries about the help, that's what we're here for. :)

Also its actually hard to brick your EVO. ;)

The only sure fire way to brick it is pull the battery while flashing and updating radios. Even then I've heard of people that had done it more than once before they had a brick.

The unroot worked flawlessly. Now I just got to go to the damn store and have them derp around and finally decide its broken and get me a new one. I will most likely end up using my old Rant for a few days until the replacement comes in(****ing country towns.) Then I will be back to root the new one.

I cant express how grateful I am for all the help. Thanks soo much yous saved my ass.


One last question though. Is there a known working way to root android version 2.3.5?
 
Yes there is, but its a little more involved.

HTC gave us a "root method" on their website that unlocks the bootloader, but doing so watermarks it. In order to get rid of the watermark you have to downgrade your bootloader and re-root using rEVOvoked.


So if you can, dont accept the OTA or allow them to do so when you get a phone back.

Hopefully it isnt already updated.
