I think it happens when pairable bluetooth devices are in range. Pretty sure it has always happened.

I've rooted and installed a custom ROM and it no longer happens on my phone. I appreciate that's a bit extreme just to solve your problem, but I think that's the only way to do it.

What BT are you using? I remember the cute voice on O2. But, I'd not heard that message for a long time now; I think it disappeared after the upgrade to 2.3.6.

how you mean, what is BT,
think firmware is 2.3.4 is that what you mean.
we are compleat novices on android phones.

I've been having the same problem, and it drives me mad! I can't find any setting to turn it off, but I have found a way around it:

I downloaded Bluetooth OnOff from Google Play. This is a widget, so after installing it you have to put the widget on your home screen (pick where you want to put it on your home screen, press and hold the screen until you're asked what you want to add, choose Widgets, then scroll down the list of available widgets until you find Bluetooth OnOff, select it and you're done!)

Once it's on the screen, press it to turn Bluetooth on, press again to turn off. No more annoying music, job done! :)

sounds good to me, will give it a try when i get home
wife will be happy if it works
thanks
