I bought an HTC EVO 4g and can not get sprint to activate it because it is rooted. Can anyone tell me how to fix this so that I can get sprint to activate my new device.
First of all that's the wrong forum because this forum is for Evo V 4g (virgin mobile). But, also, you are allowed to root your phone (right??) so they have to activate it, ask to speak to a manager or something.
You could just use one of the RUU updates to return to phone to completely stock, have the device activated, and then go through the steps to root the phone again.
@ Leslie Ann, he's not, it's an Evo 4g, having trouble activating it because it's not stock would be my guess. Being rooted is irrelevant no matter what Sprint said. Most phones need stock or semi stock software to complete the activation process.
Ahh, I missed that.
Sprint shouldn't complain that it's rooted, I would find another store or simply call them and activate over the phone.
I'm betting it's not that it's rooted, but probably not running a stock-ish rom. It's pretty rare when a store won't activate simply because it's rooted.
