Help Help! Predictive text horror!

Lurker
I have just got the Optimus P500 but can not work the predictive text. For example I type the word SING which then greys out. I wanted to type RING but see no button to scroll through to select it. Instead I am having to manually type it in. Surely this can't be right? I don't like the QWERTY keyboard and would prefer to work in the LG format. Help me please or the phone is going through the window!

Hello lolamarch, and welcome to the forums.

I'm thinking that you may be able to change the predictive text situation by going into the keyboard app in the application manager and clearing cache, data and defaults.

Following that, shut down your device, wait a minute, power it back up and see if that has remedied the issue.

I have the same issue!? Any luck with this!? Are you on koodo by any chance?? I unlocked the optimus one on telus and it had the prediction. I then bought the phone from koodo (my carrier) and it doesnt work! I can't even double tap space to insert a period. I've compared apps on both devices and the only one not on the koodo device is FlexProvider. Anyone able to explain/ help with this!? Thanks

I have the exact same issue with my Optimus one on Koodo. Predictive Text is pretty much non-existent. I'm considering buying an app to replace the keyboard.... swiftkey x. Anyone find a fix?

To "improve" this go to Settings - Language And Keyboard - LG Keyboard and activate "Show suggestions"
(might not be the exact spelling, my phone is not in English)

What happens is that when you type 7464 you will see "sing" and underneath a bar with "sing, ring, ping" etc. which also has a "drop down" button which shows all available combinations, and a "+" button for adding new words in the user dictionary

Even with "show suggestions" and "auto complete" enabled, predictive text input is pretty much non existant on the android keyboard. And I think the lg keyboard sucks. I personally use swipe which is very fast and fun. It shows suggestion while typing. An alternative is swiftkey which even tries to predict the next word!!
