Help HELP! Problems after wiping battery stats

I wiped my battery stats in recovery about a week ago to see if it would change my DInc's battery life at all (had no issue with it before). I followed the wiping procedures that are widely posted everywhere of charging to full, rebooting into recovery, wiping, and rebooting again.

Since the wipe, if I have a full charge and I use the phone for just 5 minutes in an area with low signal, it shuts off on me. After powering it back on, it will show that my battery life is 8-9%. It doesn't give me any warning that battery life is running low, nor does the battery percentage indicator drop. It will show 90% for example, and as I'm browsing around the phone, it just shuts off and comes back with 8-9%. Once rebooted, it will stay at 8-9% for quite a while regardless of what I do with the phone which makes me think that there's a problem with the phone reading how much battery life is actually left.

Any ideas as to what's going on would be greatly appreciated, since it really sucks not being able to trust my phone's battery indicator anymore. Should I wipe it again? Is it possible that after almost 2 years on the original battery it's dying on me now by coincidence?

Could very well just be a bad battery or you could try wiping the battery stats again. But really just sounds like a bad battery.

Well, I tried wiping the stats again and trying a slightly different method of calibrating the battery after the wipe. The instructions I found say to bump-charge to full, wipe, then boot the phone, run it down until it shuts off and recharge. The first time, I recharged the phone while off after it shut off due to low battery and ended up having the issues. This time, I let the phone shut off, but turned it back on immediately with the charger plugged in. This allowed the phone to read that the battery showed 0% and it charged up to full. My battery life and behavior is now back to normal as it was before the wipe. For the record, I don't notice any better battery life, but I didn't really have a problem with it to begin with.
