Can anyone help me on my Galaxy Y unit

I cannot make an outgoing call, there a letter E with both arrows (up/down) appear at the upper rightside of my unit beside the signal.

why is this happening... please help anyone..

E is a EDGE(GPRS Use For Internet) ........... if u want to Disable it

Menu--->Setting--->Wireless and Network-->Mobile nework---untick Use Packet data

You can disable it like what manoranjan says.. but letter E with both arrows has nothing to do with outgoing calls.
