Root Help! Stuck in fastboot!

I just tried unlocking and rooting my Nexus today via the WUG Nexus Toolkit. Unlock worked fine, tried rooting, and SU refused to update the binary.

I decided to try flashing back to stock and unrooting the phone by clicking Flash Stock + Unroot. Now my phone is stuck in the Fastboot screen. Pushing the buttons does nothing. Is there anyway to fix my phone?

if you type the command "fastboot devices" from the command line in the same folder that the fastboot utility is located in, does it return anything?

I don't know how to use ADB. I'm just using the WUG toolkit. I was finally able to reboot into recovery, and then tried to use that to reboot. What resulted was a black screen with the green android and a red triangle.

UPDATE: Now it's showing the black Google screen. On my PC, the Wugs alert is saying 'Rebooting your device into bootloader mode...."

It just hung at the Google screen. I could shut it off and turn it back on, that's as far as it goes. I also tried booting into Fastboot by holding all the buttons, and it put me into Download mode.

Alright, since the unlocked worked well, we can do things in fastboot. Wugs has the fastboot utility in this folder: C:/Program Files/WugFresh Development/data/

Navigate there using Windows Explorer. Once there, hold shift+ctrl and then right click. You should see an option to open command window here. That's where you should enter the command "fastboot devices" while connected in fastboot mode to confirm that the computer sees the device.

Yeah, the device has to get into fastboot in order for the command to work. I know it sounds stupid but just keep holding the vol down + power button to get into fastboot mode. If the device boots at all, even if it hangs, it's still on the phone. It's just being picky.

The other option would be if by some chance that phone boots up enough while it hangs for the computer to recognize it as an adb device. While it hangs, look at the device manager to see if an adb device pops up.

So i'm in fastboot, and when I enter FASTBOOT DEVICES in command, It shows me this:
'00960a05db558ae3 fastboot'

Perfect! Now that we know it's seen, we can flash you back to stock. Leave it fastboot mode connected. Grab the Nexus factory image here and download it to your computer.

Create a new folder on your desktop. Make a copy of the fastboot.exe, AdbWinApi.dll, and AdbWinUsbApi.dll and move it to that folder. Once the factory image finishes downloading extract it to that folder.

Close the current command window, and double click the flash-all.bat file. It should run the utility to flash you back to stock. It should take about 3-5 minutes to complete. It will then auto reboot your device which should take another minute roughly since it's completely fresh.

Ok, once in fastboot, I used WUG to try and flash stock + unroot again. It pulled up the prompt and showed a bunch of stuff like it was flashing. It gave me a few errors revolving around a boot.exe and system.exe files IIRC. It didn't stay up long enough for me to examine it.

The phone is still in Fastboot. I can not enter recovery.

EDIT: THis was posted before I saw your most recent post. I shall try what you posted.

It says Bootloader okay, baseband ok, tries to send boot and fails. It gives me
'FAILED<data transfer failure <too many links>>' and then says to press any key to exit.

Tried another USB port...I think it's taking! I'm very religious and I have never prayed so much in one evening.

EDIT: Looks like it's flashed, now it's booting and showing the Nexus 'X' screen. Waiting with baited breath.

EDIT 2: AND ITS WORKING! YES! HELL YES!.

YOU ARE THE MAN!

I guess I overlooked that part. AFAIK, both my USB ports are USB 2.0.

When's the last time they put anything less on a PC?

Congrats, if you still wanted to root your device, I could help you with that as well.

Thanks. I may take you up on that in the future. I think I'm going to leave it where it is right now. Probably wont' even bother relocking the bootloader at this point.

More was asking about 3.0 ports, fastboot spent play well with them as well as 1.0 ports. But yeah, such is life.
