CONFIRMED FAKE :> ty for all replies!! :> PICS below in my 3rd post
Hi all,
(if in wrong forum oops and sorry in advance, I've read a couple and this looks like the best bet, so feel free to move it if required)
I've brought this,
eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d?r
Auction is dubious....
I'm not cranky with the vendor either as i was figuring it's hit and miss on this kind of online sale, i just want to confirm if its genuine or a cheap copy. I'm leaning towards copy.
I plan on pulling the thing apart once i can confirm its a clone (as this is what i assume now having browsed the interwebs and youtube for un-boxings or real units. If its genuine then ill deal with seller in good faith as Paypal will simply refund my money if he is trying to pull a shifty.
The particulars.
Box = SuperPAD II (pic to come)
Boot Screen = Andr8oid World (will add pic later)
Build Quality = no screws visible, seems to be clip together although the finish looks like a well built device, it hasn't fallen apart and there are no obvious shortcuts in construction.
Sticker on back= infoTMIC (tm) some Chinese then Android2.2 DDRII512M Hard Disk 4GB
Manual = Looks cheap doesn't mention company name, bla0ck and white normal non gloss paper.
Camera = quality is bad, doesn't mention what pixel count it's meant to be anywhere but its nothing like the galaxy2 i have
Android OS info from About device (pic to come)
Model: P041
Android Version: 2.2 V2.6#4402 (with the space there)
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9
Build #: FRF85B
Issues... LOTS..
1. Tilt sensor: dodgy, a car drives past that's loud and the screen inverts. Have calibrated a few times, still very dodgy. Calibrate screen has the horizontal and vertical spirit level gauges which move slower than i thought would be possible if at all
2. Power: Supplied charger 5v ~3.0A AC adapter, MODEL: THX-0053000KB doesn't work, have seen similar on other forum posts.
note here: I'm in Australia so 240v 60Hz AC is our mains.
I've used an adjustable one i use for work a lot and can verify with a multimeter that my work adapter is good. Its a Powertech MP-3314 from Jaycar dot com dot au(Link) if your interested and was about $25. 3-12VDC 1.5A Max.
4. Wi-fi: Seems to work even without the supplied external antenna.
5. SD slot: Doesn't want to accept any micro SD card, says corrupted, when i expand that and say yes sure format it to fix, doesn't seem to do anything. I'll look into this further as i now have a micro sd->sd adapter and can format the card in my laptop if i need to (its 8gb Kingston btw)
6. Using the thing: Slow and unresponsive it seems like the processor is a reject and someone might have salvaged it to build and sell of cheap. Screen feels like its come off the backing and you cant gently push it down a couple of millimeters before there is solid resistance.
Questions:
Is there a way to tell the following easily without opening the case and voiding warranty?
How to tell hardwareversions, genuine/clone?
Finally I'm pretty sure its fake, how will it do with official firmware updates, i might as well pull it to pieces if it is :>
Thanks in advance Pics will go up after I'm back from dinner.

- supplied 5v charger will not charge device, but it powers it if the power button is held down (not feasible for using it) it turns of once released despite RED power light and charging overnight. Battery on this setup reads as 0%
- Adjustable charger is same on 5v, but will run the device without holding the power button down when set to 6.5v or above. When on 5v 0% battery, when on 6.5v 100%, in both info bar at top and battery section. Once unplugged device turns off
- 9v (supplied) Car charger (using car ciggy / accessory port) charges the device in what appears to be a normal fashion. i.e it starts turns on and says about 2% (ish) and then goes up slowly. Once unplugged it drains normally through use although i only sat in the car for 20 mins and got it to 10% cos its a cold winter here haha.
