Root Help unrooting/questions

So I noticed the gingerbread update a few days ago and I wanna get it, i'm fairly noobish when it comes to this stuff though and wanted to know what I should do. I know I need to unroot before I can and all these threads are sorta confusing me. I just used the one click root provided on these forums and am running no roms or anything else besides, so where do I go from here to unroot and get the GB update?

Also possibly interested in getting a custom rom, pro tips on what to get and advice would be awesome.

FROYO 2.2.2

If you are not running any custom roms or kernels you should be able tip update now. But if you are having issues I would odin back to stock and then do a factory reset. then take the update. In the odin sticky DOWNLOAD EE14 STOCK VERSION http://www.megaupload.com/? d=MA963SP5.

I did have an issue with it, when I went to install it, it had restarted like normal but booted into the Android Recovery mode. My first thought was that it failed because of being rooted for some reason. I'll try it once more before doing what you suggested.

This is what I get what I attempt to update.

Looks like I'll be doing Odin back to stock, question is. I know it wipes data, I got Titanium Backup Pro, but what about contacts and other things stored on the phone itself?

Okay thanks, before I use Odin to stock though, I'm currently downloading the update zip that I found in another post on here, going to try and place it on my SDcard in hopes that I can update it via Recovery utility through the SD card before having to flash back to stock.

Maybe a stupid question, but I saw a post earlier about someone having all of the preinstalled apps in a zip file, can't seem to find that post now.. When my OTA update fails, it mentions Poynt in the error, so wondering if I reinstall the bloatware, if that would fix the problem and allow me to root. Where can I find that post?

In the ctmod thread, first post. You can't just install them you have to use something like root explorer to move them from sd card to system/app folder and then reboot

Eh, I've just decided to use the Odin EE14 stock or the EJ06 GB stock images. This is too much hassle and I just want this crap updated. Backed everything up that I wanted to save, going to go do it now. Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

Btw, if I DO use the EJ06 Stock GB image, will I have issues with rooting afterwards?

No, just make sure to use shabbys new exploit to root (its stickied, its shabbyfied)

OTA update still failed after flashing to Odin's EE14 image and doing a factory reset via Recovery utility. Rerooted phone because only net I have is my phone's Wifi tethering and now it won't vibrate afterwards, I mean it worked on the first try which was epic.. But wtf?

Anyways, downloading Odin's stock Gingerbread image and just going to do it that way since this didn't work. I don't suspect I'd have any problems.. Least I hope not. :(

EDIT: After flashing directly to the stock GB image, it booted perfect and rooted again on the first try with no issues, except sometimes I get random crashes when root apps ask for superuser.
