Root Help using cyanogenmod 7, accidentally deletedd applications icon on home screen

Hey all says it all in the title, i am using the HTC desire and i read the "home screen/launcher" solution but i can't get it to work. Thanks in advance!
 
I'm not real sure what your missing? Press menu and unlock the screen if you need to, then long press the screen and a widget menu screen should appear, at the top should be the launcher bits you want.
