Help Help...VERY strange issue when navigating today

Hello all,

Wasn't sure where to post this but since it happened with my Skyrocket, I figured I would post here.

Something VERY strange happened tonight when using Google Navigation as I always do. Everything was fine and was navigating fine with the standard female voice for directions. Then, all of the sudden, I here a beeping noise and start hearing another female voice but this one was different. Don't know how to describe it but it was like a "mean" female voice. It started dictating all kinds of numbers and web addresses. It wouldn't stop. It just kept spilling out a bunch of gibberish, mostly numbers and web url's. (strange ones)

What the hell was that? Could my phone be hacked or contain a virus of some sort for this to happen? I have been VERY careful so I don't see how.

This just freaked me out. Never have I seen something like this on a smartphone.

What do you guys recommend I do?

Thanks,

Haha. Not a virus. It seems to be a bug in the Text-to-Speech engine (mine has done this too). Specifically the Samsung one. The standard android TTS engine works just fine (but I think its harder to understand).

Lol! Yes, I have been told today it was either the tts or the nav application that just bugged out. I seriously doubt it is Google nav, as I have been using it since it was released. Scary though man. Just practically took over the phone.

I think I am experiencing something in this same vein. Started yesterday - whenever I plug my phone in to charge it, even if it is on mute, a female voice says "navigation resume". What is that all about?! I have not used navigation for at least two weeks or more. And I've never had it say that to me before yesterday.

hillucia,

Not exactly what I'm experiencing but this is definitely strange and I still can't figure it out.
