Help where to start with Evo shift

Just got my evo shift today and dont know where to start. So many things that the hero did not offer. Help hwere do I start?

Congrats!
If you like to play with root kernels and roms you can start of course by rooting your new toy and you go from there.
Here's a link with instructions on how to root and install recovery.
if you need more info just browse and read the other threads on that forum.

Thanks for the link. once I grow a pair I might do this as for I do not know what I can do with a rooted phone that I cant do with a stock setup. I read allot on it but from what I read it seems as if i dont need this. If thiers more info you can give on rooted phone plz do

When you root your phone you can customize it the way you like, you are able to remove preinstalled stock apps that you don't like Ex. Amazonmp3,Nascar,Etc.
Also you can install cool apps that require your phone to be rooted so you can backup data settings etc.
Take screen shoots of your phone to share with friends,
Install the adfree app which blocks almost all the ads that come with the free ad supported apps. and also the add on the internet browser.
Modify or theme your home screens..
there's a lot of stuff you can do.
