I bought a couple of Galaxy TAB S2 (Wi-Fi version) and found that they would not hold a Wi-Fi connection. They would automatically connect to a Wi-Fi network but, within seconds, would disconnect from it and either connect to another or reconnect to the first. Very flaky. I had tried all the other tricks from various forums but to no avail. I was ready to take the S2's back to the store.
I had 6 networks in the house, each with its own, unique SSID - a 2G and 5 G network from my main router; another 2G and 5G from an AP router and 2 more from a Wi-Fi Extender. When I watched the Wi-Fi connections screen on the S2 I would see all this random SSID switching going on every few seconds. I finally realized that all Wi-Fi tablets will check for wi-fi networks roughly every 10 seconds, even if they are connected to one. This is normal. What was happening was that the S2 had too many to choose from and, based on moment to moment conditions would switch to a "better" one.
So, I picked one single SSID name and assigned it to all the networks. Yes. Just one name!
That did the trick. All connections were rock solid after that. No dropping. No random switching. The Tab has only one "formal" SSID to work with.
OK, I do realize that I still have six networks running. Six "radios", each on their own Channel, and if I walk around the house, the Tab will connect to the one having the best signal at that location. But having assigned the same SSID to all of them has stopped the Tab from formally switching on its own, randomly, when it's just sitting in one place. It still checks for networks every 10 seconds or so but has to stay with the one SSID. Maybe all a bit wierd, but it works!!!
