Root help with a new evo

i will be buying a htc evo with in the next week. like to find out what i sould do or not do if i want to root the phone. sould i update the phone or hold off and root it with a rom. i have done some rooting on my htc hero but still dont know much about it. any pointers will help a lot thanks

There is no downside to having a fully upgraded phone before rooting that I know of. There is a current easy root method that will work fine with currently available upgrades.

Or if you'd rather u can flash a rom with the updates. Either, or.

thank you for the info on this. just want to be sure it was safe to root after update so dont kick my self after
