Root HELP With ALLY...Pseudo-Bricked?

Lurker
First off to let you know im not a total noob, I have flashed my DX with clockword recovery and am now running liberty v 2.0.1.

The problem started last night when my GF was having trouble wth her phone and I decided to root it. I downloaded various roms but after wiping caches in Clockwork and installing the ROM all I get a LG still Screen followed by the Verizon Static Screen and as the VZW splash starts the phone shuts off and goes into boot cycles. Ive tried at least 4 different ROMS with re wiping the cache then reinstalling with the same CW recovery screen. I have tried to switch a ROMS with the Clockwork app mod recovery but no luck.

Finally I was able to install the Intencity v.1 rom (only successful one) with proper fuction but I want to upgrade to the latest version if possible. I made a backup of the Int. V1 rom which has saved me from testing a couple other releases but no luck there either...

For the record I used the computer terminal app to gain root access so I know root is availble.

Does anyone have advice on how to do this, i am currently downloading the velocity 4 zip and the frunisher rom as well as the patch included in it's thread.

Any advice help to have Velocity 4 or Frunisher (with script instructions)
I'd reallllly appecate it.

Thanks!

First off are is the ally on 2.1 or 2.2? And search the all things root forum for the zips to switch to amanra recovery instead of clockwork. And HOW did you root the phone?

Im on my work pc at the moment and cant see the file I used to do it. I installed universandroot- no luck- z4root, no luck. I eventually found a file that brought up a DOS promt like window wiht options 1-9. I chose option 7 which dis some process and then gave me another list of numercal choices. I chose the right ones, as I downloaded root checker and verified it but I cant think of the name of the method off the top of my head. Hopefully this poor description helps to some extent. Im currently trying find it online and will post it asap.

As far as phone version goes, it was completely stock and I'm pretty sure it was 2.2.1.

With this amanra recover, will I install this to the Velocity rom and uninstall clockwork... reboot to the amanra to wipe caches and then try the new roms.

**EDIT** This is what I used to root : http://androidforums.com/ally-all-t...-3-2011-3-40-pm-est-now-easier-than-ever.html

Well follow that guide. You may need to use LGNPST to downgrade. If you got clockwork on there then you didnt follow that guide. You got shit mixed up, just start over. That guide is spot on and fool proof. LGMU just doesnt always work.

And with the ally, dont use clockwork, or rom manager. Everything can be done via amonra recovery. The guide will give you options for velocity or stock rooted, also you can try frunisher. But i wouldnt mess with any ROM besides those 2, frunisher and velocity.

Well, I have Velocity v.1 running properly on it. Would you recommend I start with step one or a different step? Also I am nt familiar with Amrona, will I install that into Velocity and reboot into recovery or will it need to be side loaded? I apologise for so many questions!

Thanks for your help!

Its kinda hard to tell what you have/have not done up to this point but if you got it up and running with velocity then there no need to redo the guide except to gain fastboot if you didnt downgrade the first time. Or didnt already have it. But i think the automated scripts in the guide use it so id assume you have it

And as far as amonra recovery. It looks pretty much like clockwork. There isnt a whole lot of differences. Following the guide would have put this on there instead of clockwork. If you made a point to put clockwork on there i would find the thread in the all things root forum savoxis posted with recovery flashable zips to switch. Once in amonra recovery You gotta use the dpad to navigate up and down, enter to select, vol-down to go back. Without clockwork ROM manager is useless and would only waste space.

Both velocity and frunisher have reboot and recovery options in the power menu when you hold end/power. And there always the old school powering up with end+menu+send.

as far as different ROMs go, there is velocity, frunisher (2 of my favs) then byron and byron bare for a more stock feeling may be nice since it a gfs phone, and a froyo rom which is pretty simple and was just made to be able to theme when 2.2 was first available and the attention has since been turned to velocity.

If you are gonna stick with velocity check the velocity forum and the scripts thread for info on manually updating the scripts. And once you do that check the scripts out cuz theres a ton you can do with them.

And for anymore info id check the ally all things root subforum. Most of us dont wander in here too often and future help would be found quicker (more quickly?) In there.
