Help with fresh install

My Note 2 has been lagging for a while, and is now unbearably so. Gallery and the 'share' list are particularly embarassing. There's also something murdering the battery - in the past I'd go to bed with it at 30-40%, now I'm charging it late afternoon. I think the best option is to do a fresh install and start again, but I have some concerns (first time doing this).

I have my photos saved to a memory card, but obviously them, contacts, messages etc can be saved to Kies. Is there anything I need to think about losing? I have a couple of games with data I'd like to preserve (Temple Run 2 and Simpsons Tapped Out), but it's by no means a deal breaker.

My thought process would be to simply erase the data in the phone's settings, and restore a backup. Is there a way to save app data?

Anything I'm forgetting?

Thanks in advance!

Helium will save app data and, if you tell it to, the app itself.

Contacts should be on Google Contacts, so you don't have to back them up. (If they aren't, change that now.)

Back up texts with SMS Backup & Restore.

Unmount and remove the SD card before resetting or reinstalling anything.

(Delete Kies - it gets more useless all the time.)

Thanks!

The backup in the phone settings, to google, says it does app data. Is it any good?
