Help Help with Gmail tiles changing to letters

I have no idea but somehow the icons at the beginning of my gmail messages turned into scrabble looking letters. How do I get it back to normal?

it's the newest update...it makes it easier to figure out which e-mails are from who..if you want it back to how it was you have to uninstall the updates and freeze it from updating again...or find another gmail client that suits your wants and needs

yeah its the new update. i didnt like it at first but it grows on you. if you go into settings> general settings> archive and delete actions and chose show archive and delete you can get your delete icon to show back up without having to hit the menu button

I use k9 mail free from playstore
It does all my gmail acounts and my 1 yahoo acount
Works very well, you might want to try it

Thanks for that info on the delete button. I hadn't tried to look for it yet, and having to hit the menu button was kind of wearing on me.
