Root Help with GPS fix

This may not answer your question - but this is what I did - I tried the same method you're describing with CM7 last night. I used ES File Manager, gave it root permission, etc - Anyways - renaming the file didn't help me - I found another thread that suggested the following - I flashed BAMF forever, I don't know why it works, but once I got it to load up (it's really pretty by the way, just not for me) I enabled the GPS, started nav through google maps, I was then able to get a GPS lock. I restored CM7 and BAM - GPS'd my ass to work this morning to test it out.

Give it a try.

Okay, I'll try that. Thanks

Do I need to wipe /cache, /data, /system, and dalvik cache? If I do will it still work?

Follow this homie - Mine's working GREAT now...

1. make backup of your current ROM install
2. wipe data/cache/dalvik
3. install sense based ROM (I suggest BAMF forever b/c it worked for me)
4. after sense rom is installed, open up maps and make sure GPS is working properly 5. boot back up into recovery, restore CM7
6. download GPS Status, open, Menu, tools, manage a-gps, select reset and then select download
7. wait for lock, then your golden

I had to go outside but when all those beatuiful satellite signals showed up on my screen, it was quite impressive.

Please keep in mind, I am using other people's methods - I have no idea WHY this works or exactly WHAT I am doing, just using proven methods.

Cool, thanks! I didn't realize I needed to do a nandroid, and I just flashed BAMF haha. I just finished re-flashing CM7, so I'll do a nandroid now.

Actually, I was about to do a nandroid, but I figured I would test the GPS first... and it worked! Thanks again for the help!

Keep me informed of what you run into - I am sure we can both help each other through this whole thing - probably be good buddies for when CM9 releases - I won't be moving off the bolt until it dies.
