Help with Insurance

Hey guys, I've ordered my HTC DHD and will be picking it up when I get home on Monday. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for insurance? I'm basically wondering what the best things to look for in an insurance plan are, average prices and stuff like that. I bought my DHD from Amazon, so would it be best to get insurance from them? (Assuming they do it...)

Thanks!

Mike.

The network providers usually give the best insurance in terms of getting you a new phone the next day should you lose or break it, however, they charge like a wounded bull.

If you have a gold/ultimate etc bank account they will often come with phone insurance, along with car breakdown cover, holiday discounts, & many other perks as part of the package.
This is more like conventional insurance though, so if you make a claim you'll be looking at about 2 - 4 weeks before you get a replacement.

If you don't have one of these accounts, they cost about

As above, network operators do the best insurance but it can be quite costly.

Ive also done the rounds recently trying to find the best deal on phone insurance, its always best to read policy documents carefully, some wont pay out for a loss, some will only pay out once a year, some will only cover a phone up to

Yes, be very careful what they cover you for... in detail!

Besides the 2-4 week wait if/when i make a claim, my bank account phone insurance is unbeatable. I take full advantage of all the other perks too, so like i said before, the

Thanks for the responses :)

I don't have a Gold/Ultimate account at the moment, but I will certainly pop into my bank and ask about phone insurance. I'd be very happy to pay

Yes, easy as pie.
You'll need all the relevant documentation to prove who you are, address etc, but that goes for any bank account these days.

I use the Halifax (ultimate reward account), costs

My household insurance is with Liverpool and Victoria they cover my phone and my laptop for loss/damage within and away from home for free of charge

Free bank insurance is a Joke, it takes weeks to process with lots of forms to fill in, go with your network provider, its normally a 24 hour maximum turnaround.

I don't agree about the network providers; in my experience they only agree to "replace" the phone not provide a new one. Also I have found them quite tight on their parameters e.g. phones stolen from a car may not be covered as you weren't in the car.. basically any reason they can for wiggling out of paying up!

After local market research (Ireland) I went with contents insurance as it gave me the best coverage by far and I get all my personal belongings covered not just the phone for the price of phone insurance.
