Hi,

About a year ago I rooted my S2

But now im struggling on how I go about updating it to ICS

Do I need to update the kernel on my phone as well and if so im not sure what kernel I need

Can anyone recommend a good rom for ICS?

Can anyone help?

I have included the details from my phone below:

Model GT-I9100
Android 2.3.4
Baseband I9100XXKG6
Kernel 2.6.35.7 hardcore@speedmod #s2-k1-t17-200hz
Build number Lite'ning Rom V5.0 XXKG6

Firstly, there has been no official Samsung release of ICS for the SGSII yet.

The custom ICS ROM's that are out at the moment are based on leaks, although the official version may be released sometime in the next Month.

These leaks are, IMHO, not 100% stable or usable, see here:-

and you must be prepared for some features to not function, or function properly.

Having said that, there are a number of AF members who are using ICS custom ROM's on a daily basis. These ROM's come with their own kernel.

Some examples of ICS ROM's are:-

Hope this helps.

The main reason I want to flash some new firmware and update my kernel is because i keep getting screen black out with my phone.

Can still change the ring volume but just no lights on the screen

As the above ROMS come with there own kernelCan you flash any kernel onto your device then?

I see that the stock ICS should be available from Samsung now, to update to this do i need to flash back my stock kernel?
