Help Help with mobile internet!

Hi, I've got a Samung Galaxy Spica, on the lastest android OS.
I can connect to 3G, Edge, ect... and go on facebook, browser, all works perfectly.
However, I CANNOT find any IM apps that will work on my phone whilst I am using mobile internet (3G or Edge) however they all work on wi-fi.
I am aware that it's almost certain that one of the apps I've tried should work on mobile internet, and that a setting in my phone must be to fault.
But I have no idea where to correct this problem, any help?

eBuddy and imo.im both work on mobile data.

Until recently, I was using eBuddy. But imo.im can IM with Skype in addition to the other IM's.

Just downloaded eBuddy, and it works fine on wi-fi, but nothing over edge...
Any chance it's got something to do with my connection speed? Or a setting in my phone?

Something's not right with your phone. eBuddy and imo.im both work on mobile data.

Do you have a Task Killer installed? That seems to be the root of all push/connectivity evils. If you do, uninstall it and reboot and try again.

If no TK, then something else on your phone is restricting access.

I don't think so, what is a task killer exactly?
And if it's something with my phone, any idea what? Probably some setting...
