Help help with new lg g2x sd card apps and backups

hey got a new g2x and love it.. but only problem is all my backups and apps are on external sdcard. the problem is the path has changed with this new phone.. the phone has a internal mem of 8 gigs and the path is /mnt/sdcard. which is what all my apps and back ups think the path should be BUT it is not the apps and backups are actually in mnt/sdcard/_externalsdcard now... how do i fix this and let installed apps know where the backups are actually at... cant change folder names because i am not rooted yet?
please help on how to get all associations to the external sd card?
