Help with Roms. Which ones really work. Stability, performance and battery friendly.

I use CheckRom RevoHD v4 with Siyah 2.6.12 and as I can see many of you do the same.

Besides this ROM. What Custom or unbranded ROMS would you recommend taking Battery Life, stability and performance as parameters?

I like Checkrom very much but I think trying another ROM would be a good idea.

I don't like to have my phone full of apps, games, moving backgrounds and widgets. Only necessary stuff. I prefer simplicity.

Your experience is very important and can save us a lot of time testing unstable and/or "battery eaters" ROMS.

Thanks once more to all of you!

Have a look under, "Rom's" in the forum sticky here:-

http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-...guide-last-updated-09-feb-2012-19-30-gmt.html

The pro's and con's of various ROM's are discussed.

One ROM that would seem to meet your requirements is, "DlevROM". See here:-

FWIW... in my experience, it is the kernel and it's settings that offer the best battery savings, rather than the ROM itself.

Thanks for your advice. I am testing DlevROM now. Kernel: Siyah 2.6.12.

It looks pretty nice and fast. Now I have to use it for a couple of days to see what happens. Before, I made a CheckRom Nandroid (just in case, you know :-).

I appreciate your help.

I agree with ironass if you are looking for simplicity and wanna stick with the Original Stock ROM just install one of the available great Kernels only as they are enough to change your phone experience.

I tried Siyah 2.6.x , NEAK 1.3.2 & 1.3.3 and lately SpeedMod K21. They are all great but Speedmod is the lightest, fast and very battery friendly. I am looking for Void .echo kernel to test it but unfortunately I can't find its Post or thread or download links but i think it is a great one too.

I myself stick to the latest GB Stock ROM for my region and install one of the listed kernel. If you are casual user as myself (email, web, forums, Social apps,..) I recommend Speedmod K2-21 for battery and performance as well. It is very simple and tweaked without the much tweaking capabilities offered by other more sophisticated kernels as Siyah and NEAK and others..

I flashed Speedmod k2-21 which I think is the latest. It seems very fast. Not fully compatible with CWM Manager but I prefer Speed and battery life rather than a lot of bells and stars!
Please, let me know about your voltage settings or things you use and or recommend to improve battery life with this kernel.

I appreciate your help. Thanks again,

Speedmod doesn't support undervolting or overclocking. Other than that it was a pretty solid kernel (I think I was on k2-18). The only reason I went to kernels like Siyah and NEAK is because of the lack of BLN support (of Speedmod). Undervolting and custom boot animations were a secondary consideration to me, but nice to have anyway.

I don't really care about under or overclocking. What I really want is speed, stability and battery duration.

As far as I know BLN is to make leds light up when receiving messages (maybe I am wrong). If so, I don't need it.

It's funny to play with voltages and tweaks but the key here is to make the battery last longer at a good performance. No other thing makes really sense to me.

As for apps, I need a good email client (maildroid), Titanium and a recovery to make backups and flash new kernels and ROMS, root explorer, something to write text and some other apps which may result useful.

Thanks,

The only reason I mentioned it is because you asked for recommended voltage settings, with the intent to increase battery life, which this kernel doesn't support. Other than that, Speedmod sounds like what you're looking for, as speed, stability and battery life is basically what this kernel sets out to achieve. This will come at the cost of more advanced tweaks and settings to the kernel, so all I really meant is you'll have to find other ways to increase your battery life.

Yep that's exactly what it does.

Thanks Kuragari for such a valuable help!
I'll keep evaluating the kernel + checkrom and will see what happens.
