Help with rooting (beginner)

[buddy39914]

Can somebody point me to a complete beginner's rooting guide? (I know there are millions, I read through most of them but I don't even know what the hell I'm doing)
Or can someone help me root my phone?

A guide that explains every step, so I don't brick my phone. Because again, I have no idea what I am doing.

thanks

edit - I'm running 2.3.3 and I have it unlocked (though not rooted) don't know if it helps.

I'm going to move this to the All Things Root Section, hopefully someone can help you there.
