Root Help with rooting

Ok cool. If I switch to the leaked 2.1 could I change the lock screen like the people with a jail break iPhone. Also if we switch to leak 2.1 and the phone don't receive the official OTA update couldn't we say that were having problems after the update and Verizon would swap it out.

You can change to the normal android lock screen by deleting a certain file, but it screws up the alarm clock so you'd have to use a 3rd party one.

Ok so I'm still debating on what 2.1 to choose. I see they just got live wall papers to work which I really want. So where is the best place and safest site to download leaked or rooted 2.1

Have I bricked my phone?

I just put on the 03 eris rom and it was going back and forth between htc screen and verizon loop.

So I tried the dalvik wipe and same thing. Pulled the battery and went back to hboot screen and its stuck on the verizon logo... phew just came back online.

So how do I get past this loop then?
