Root Help with S Off

Just a small question. Iv read that some people have had better luck S off'ing after flashing stock sense roms.

Any input on a rom to flash for me to S Off?

Thanks

Im using MIUI XJ X-part. On the Alpha rev site it says that data 2 ext may disturb the flashing process, so i have not attempted yet and was guessing i should flash another rom withouth data 2 ext?

I did switch back to a Sense ROM for the S-Off operation. I figured that if there was a chance of my normal ROM causing problems, then for the sake of a couple of minutes work it was worth doing.

The one I used was teppic74's rooted stock ROM, as that was very close to stock (and I used to run it, so was confident of it). There are several versions in that thread, but you'd just want one without a radio (so one of the init.d capable ones). Just wiped, installed ROM (without bothering to install any of my apps or data), ran alpharev, then restored my normal ROM from nandroid.

Edit: Yup, the same one SUroot's recommended in the meanwhile.

After 2 failed attempts to S-OFF with Gingervillain v2.1, I've flashed on old Redux version (I think it was 0.7) and only then I was able to S-OFF. I had the ext partition.

Purposely didn't suggest leedroid due to debugging bug in latest version. I know its supposed to be on for this anyway, I think as plain a Rom as possible is best

ahh ok didnt know that. Older version was fine no problems! And I forgot to mention NON A2SD version is recommended for S-OFF

Okay used the one linked by SUroot and Hadron and seemed to work well thanks :)

Although one problem...

I S-offed and then re-partitioned my memory card using GParted to Fat32/Ext3/Swap.

Now when i enter recovery some writing comes up saying (the items in bold may differ, it dissapears quickly)...

This then dissapears and i seem to be able to use Recovery properly, issue to ignore or not?

Also i should add that i copied contents back to my sd after re-partitioning. There were a few items that i did not recognise that could not be copied with a message saying something was corrupt.

Also lost titanium backups of apps, but not system data (accounts and wifi)

Nothing to worry about. Ignore it
