Help Help with samsung vibrant kies software

Hi I am new to these forums and just got the samsung vibrant and it is my first android phone. I am in the US and recently downloaded the samsung Kies software for picture/video transferring and tethering and when i plug my device in it says "reconnect the device on samsung kies(pc studio)mode.Kies doesn't support this connect mode." can anyone help me with this please?

At home screen hit settings>applications>usb settings> Samsung Kies. This will allow you to connect to samsung kies. You may have to click the top left of kies and update the drive for your phone. Hope this helps.

That's actually Settings>About phone>USB settings>Samsung Kies

It makes no sense that USB settings is hidden away here. Took me a while to find it.

Edit: That was on my Galaxy S. I've just noticed this is the Vibrant forum. Darned fragmented versions.
