Help with stock email

Ok... well the stock email app on my samsung captivate has never really worked right until the 2.2 froyo update. Well now its still really slow and it takes like 5 minutes for me to recieve a notification that I have an email. Another thing is that it won't let me use my yahoo email with it. It just tells me that I have the wrong username or password. I made a gmail and thats what im using now but my yahoo mail app seems to be a lot faster than the stock email app. Any suggestions on whether I should use the stock app or the Yahoo! Mail app? If you say stock, then any suggestions on how to make it run better? These are the only issues I have with my phone so I would love to get the problem resolves. Thank you!

Many people have had complaints about both the stock email app as well as the official Yahoo app. Have you tried an alternative like K-9? It's based on stock, but with many more features and bugfixes, and is actively developed.

It works when it feels like it.
I am using maildroid as an alternative for exchange email.

Of course no problem with gmail.
