Help Help with storage problem

Lurker
Hi, I seem to have an issue with my phone
I have barely anything installed on it and its already at its limit for apps, I have a 16GB SD card in as well and was wondering if there was a way to make the SD card my main memory source or if I can install my apps/games to the card instead? Its a Xperia Arc, btw

Hi SaviorSS, and welcome to Android Forums :)

As your question may be largely device-specific, I have moved your thread into the Xperia Arc subforum. It should gain more attention from fellow users here as well

Unless someone's written a ROM that uses the SD card as system memory (which has been done for a few phones), no. You have about 320MB of storage which, by today's standards, is almost nothing. Move all your music, videos, pictures, documents, etc. to the SD card. Use a program like Link2SD to move any apps that can be moved to the SD card. (Most can't, but even one or two will give you a little more room.)

When I was limited like that, I ran a backup program, backing up to the SD card. When I wanted to run a program that wasn't installed, I uninstalled a program I wasn't using that would give me enough space (and was backed up) and restored the one I wanted to run. Not an ideal situation, but with a 16GB card, you effectively have 16GB of storage, even if it's very slow storage. For instance, 99% of the time I didn't need a GPS app - I knew where I was going, so why waste storage on it? When I needed it, it was a matter of about a minute or two to uninstall something else and install a GPS app. (Everything else didn't get bad enough to start using Maps until pretty recently.)
