Hello all,

I'm a 2 month user of an a500 tab but 1st time poster here.

Im having some issues with it.

I was told by previous owner that he has upgraded the os.

I would like to find out what he has upgraded it to and weather I can downgrade it back to the original version as I'm having constant problems ( nearly everything crashes)

1. Is there any program that I can get hold of that will 'read' the tablet if connected to a PC. Ie has the bootrom been changed etc.

( I don't know if any of the words I'm using are right I am a brilliant PC user and repair iPhones for a living so I'm OK with that side of things. I'm running windows if you need to know)

2. Where can I get the original is from its the Packard bell version not the acer

For now I think that's all but I'm sure I can get more help from you lot if needed.

If its not rooted, itll be on android 4.0 ICS.. and no theres no way to revert it (iiif its not been rooted). However, if its been rooted, you can simply put an older rom on it and get even newer versions (i.e. 4.1 jellybean) but we cant really help in plain old fixing it unless you tell us what its doing.. so, whats it doing? Lol
 
i have just watched a vid on youtube and it says its not compatable with icecream!! how do i find out what im running???

yes you are on ICS.

you can go here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1136 for roms. but you will need a custom recovery. in the link there is a thread for TWRP which is a custom recovery. get that installed if there is no recovery. then you can find a rom that you like(i would read the entire thread to find out any issues and troublshooting for each rom) and flash it. please read the op for special instructions (if there is any) as how to flash the rom.

the other thing is you can go to our Iconia Tab A500 - All Things Root - Android Forums forum as well......if you like i can even move you there that way folks who have your tablet can help you better.
