Help Help with these Keyboard/typing problems

[mason dixon]

Sometimes when typing a message or a web address, I will type a word and then a space to go to the next word and the cursor will jump to the front of the word I just typed and delete it and start typing the new word in its place. Very annoying.

Also, I will hit a text window to enter text and the keyboard will not slide up so I can type?

Everything is stock on the phone. Didn't even know I could download other keyboards.

I downloaded another keyboard and enabled it but everytime I go to type something the same old keyboard shows up....is there a way to disable it?
