Root Help with update and root...

2nd Bionic.

1st Bionic was rooted flawlessly using Pete's Root Method. Returned phone for warranty issues.

New replacement came in. Upgraded system version to 5.7.893.XT875 with no issues. I tried to root using Pete's Method, the R3l3AS3D Method and both are stating I have adb issues. I have been at this for well over 3 days and several messages are coming up all pointing to the adb either not being unzipped or not available.

I've rooted my X and my 1st Bionic with absolutely ZERO issues. I feel beaten. Please someone help a brother out!

Thanks for hearing me out.

Hi Ron

Welcome to the forums!

Try using dhackers Forever root method instead of Pete's. Here's the link to the all root guide.

xmr405o,
Thanks for the quick response. I tried the ForeverRoot method and both options 1 and 2 did not work. It goes through the steps but fails on the adb section. I pulled the battery and SIM card and rebooted several times to no avail.

Am I missing something? Has anyone else encountered these issues with the adb? All error messages point to the adb but I can not figure it out. I've redownloaded the zip files for both Pete's and Forever's methods but it still is not allowing me to root.

The phone is still working fine which I totally amazed at right now. With all the tinkering, I would've bet money the Bionic would've been bricked by now.

Let me know if you gurus can think of anything else.

What is the exact errors you are getting for ADB? Can you cut and paste the dos prompt with everything?

HELP!!!

When using Pete's Method, this is the error message that pops up in the program box:

ERROR: YOU ARE MISSING ADB.EXE, WHICH WAS PACKAGED WITH THIS PROGRAM.

MAKE SURE THAT YOU EXTRACT ALL FILES WITH THIS ONE-CLICK ROOT PACKAGE.

Any all assistance is greatly appreciated!

Did you run the batch program in the same folder as adb? It's telling you it can't find adb.exe. Make sure you unzip all the files in the zip in the same directory and run it from that directory. You possibly just ran extracted the batch file. Also if you open up the zip file from windows vista/7 it'll just extract that one file rather than all of it.

Actually, more appropriately, Vista and Windows 7 have a more integrated way of managing .ZIP files, in that the OSs treat them as if they are folders. So, before you try to run anything you must first right click on the file and extract the files to a folder, and you'll be presented with a wizard allowing you to pick the folder and all that jazz.

It sounds like you clicked the ZIP file and it opened in Explorer and so you thought it was unzipped, when in fact it is not. That is why you're getting those error messages.

In effect, that is what amageus is referring to - when you try to 'run' the file from the folder view of the ZIP file, Windows extracts only the /batch file to your temp folder and runs it from there. Since the other files are not extracted with the batch file, it gives you the error.
