Root Help With Wifi Tethering

etlloos

Lurker
Alright, so after an issue with my ISP, ive decided i want to root my phone so i can tether via wifi. Id like to keep the stock ROM, but dont know enough about the kernels to know which one to use. Im looking for one that really only influences tethering. I dont want to overclock it, and havent had any other issues. any suggestions?

If you are rooting your phone for the purpose of wireless tethering then all you need to do is download Barnacle Wifi tether after achieving root. That will work on most stock kernels though you may wish to check the developers webpage for an exact list. If you have a D1 then it will work fine.

I you want to install a "stock" custom ROM (I know it's an oxymoron) then you can go with Bugless Beast which I am running. It comes with its own wireless tethering app built into it. I went a long time with the stock Verizon ROM using Barnacle without a problem.
