Looking for a weather and clock combined one. Have got the acru weather one on my home page but its dates august so isnt uptodate

2) Vodafone set my phone up and my contacts from my sim are all showing ok but theres nowhere to put email addys, is that because I have contacts saved to sim and not phone. Want to email people but theres nowhere to staor their email addys

3) To get into apps I have to set up a google acc and a gmail email addy, dont want anymore email addys as happy with the 2 that I use, is there anyway round that?

Thanks for your help

Hi City Angel, there are thousands of apps / Widgets out there on the play store. some are free some you pay for. (play store can be found by pressing the applications button at the bottom left, the play store icon looks like a paper carrier bag with the "Play" symbol on it. and as mentioned in question 3 you need to have a google account to access it so in answer to Q3, there is no way around it. as for the combined app i use fancy widget.

For Q2 you can add email addresses, its best to save contacts to phone. to add email addresses to existing contact select the contact and select edit, then press add another field and select the Email option.

Thanks for your help Scotty, thats much appreciated.

I assume I find ''fancy widget'' in play store once Ive opened the google account?

As for Q2, when I select a contact Ive found edit but cant find add another field, where do I find that please?

On your PC go to google and set yourself up with a gmail account. Then on your phone press menu settings and accounts and add the gmail account you've just created (same gmail email address and password) You will then find the phone and the PC will synchronise and your contacts will appear on the PC and the phone. This makes it much easier to edit and add information. As soon as you press save on the gmail contacts it is synchronised to the phone. You can then email people from your new Gmail account.

Setting up a gmail account really does work well, and you don't have to worry about losing things. I just upgraded my phone and on my GS2 I simply entered my gmail account details and bingo, all my contacts/email addresses and calendars were immediately synced to my new phone. Give Gmail a go.

3) If you already have a gmail account (preferably a private one), you can use that as the phone account as well. Don't have to set up another one. However, once you set up the phone using that account, you cannot change it with regards to the PlayStore, or Google Contacts, or Google Plus etc. It doesn't actually effect the email too much as you can still set up the email to sync other gmail accounts.

2) SIM contacts have very very limited ability to store information. The possible methods are to transfer the SIM contacts to the Phone Contacts and edit the Phone Contacts. Another method is to go to google contacts and log in with your gmail account. In there you can fill up all the contacts. After that, get the phone to sync with Google and pull the contacts into your phone.

1) Just search the play store. Lots of fancy widgets and apps that comes with widgets.

Thanks togger and Russell for your help.

I didnt really want to email people on my phone from a gmail account as I wanted to continue to use my bt email addy as I do now, so I'm assuming that there is no way to set up a google acc to access playstore without having a new gmail addy even though several google searches say there is a way round it??

You actually don't need to use that gmail at all other than to gain access to playstore and Google services. I guess its not really gmail you are after. Its that you need a Google Account.

With a Google Account, you get a email address, wallet, play store, contacts, etc....

But since you can set up any number of email accounts and set one of them as primary, you probably don't need to use the gmail at all. Just don't forget your password and user name since you will still need it.

I don't know of any way to gain access to play store without a google account, and I do know once you set up that account, its fixed. You need to factory reset the phone to change the account.

Cheers

Thanks Russell, Ive managed to set up a google account with my existing bt email addy and have access to playstore now so problems solved, thanks for your help.

Just have to have a look round playstore now and find the widgets, lol
