Root Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll happily admit that I'm a noob and I never should have done this. After having a couple of android fanatics puffing their chest out about how easy it was to toss Froyo on a phone, I tried it and now I'm stuck.

I have a Samsung Fascinate on Verizon's network. I follow the instructions I found and now I'm stuck staring at some boot up and recover screen. What I can't do is select any of the options give to me.

I'm starting at the following screen:

Android System Recovery <3e> after using Odin3 v1.00
All:
I used Odin3 v100 to load Android 2.2 ROM

I followed the following steps
i9000XXJP2 Instructions
1. Remove the battery from your phone
2. Remove the SIM Card and MicroSD Card from your phone
(However, since it's a verizon phone, I had no sim card and I left my micro SD card in place)
3. Place the battery back on the phone
4. Hold down the HOME button, Volume Down button, and Power On button
5. You should now see a Download screen
6. Open Odin 3 v1.0
7. Click on the button

If you used the i9000 Odin files on the fascinate, that was the problem. Those files were for a different phone. You need to get the correct Odin files for the fascinate. I believe there is a link on this site for the full Odin package.

Haha I did that to my phone yesterday. I was flashing a theme someone does for both the i5000 and i9000 seperately and put the i9000 on there. I'm like...why the hell am I bootlooping!? :p

like others have said, you followed instructions for a different handset. There are many GalaxyS handsets, none of them can be worked with exactly the same to my knowledge.

From now on, since you have a Fascinate, only follow directions specific to your Fascinate

Fascinate (USA Verizon model)

Samsung Fascinate - xda-developers

or if you have the Telus Fascinate you should look for Telus specific information and Roms

[Telus T959D Fascinate][VIDEO]step by step instructions to use custom roms - xda-developers

there is also a Telus subforum here

if thats what you have. You cannot just take roms or instructions from any other GalaxyS model and use it on yours. Each is specific even though they essentially have the same hardware inside in most cases.

Not to sound like a jerk...but if you don't know that you shouldn't flash/push firmware fromother phones onto yours....you need to to take a step back and decide if you can really handle being rooted or customizing your device

If you are lucky enough to fix it (if the radio wasn't killed you should be) I think you should keep the phone stock for awhile while reading up on all things root and getting a better understanding of what it is you are doing
