Root Help!!

I can boot into recovery, boot into fastboot. I can execute an adb shell and get the root prompt. But when I try to boot the phone it stalls at "Verizon". ?!?

Did you wipe Data, Cache, and Dalvik cache before flashing something?

I'd say wipe those and reflash whatever ROM you're running.

Yes I did. I was going from 2.1.1 to 2.2.1 with guide. It finished and when I rebooted the phone, that's where it stays. I have backups of 2.1 on my laptop, but when I copy them to the sdcard I get a nandroid.m5 error.

GOT IT BACK! I put into fastboot mode and ran the FroyoLite.zip froyo.sh from linux and it booted!
