My mom has managed to get her Android set to Chinese or Japanese and we can't figure out how to get it set back to English since we only speak/ can read English.Does anyone know how to change this back?

Perhaps one way is to have another Android phone side by side, go through the same menus, and then change the language.

Or you can try a factory reset, which will wipe all language settings.

if that does not work..

you need to tell us:
what phone
what android version
are you rooted and running a custom ROM?

Can you find the settings icon in the app drawer? It looks like a grey dial with a blue bit on it.

That will give you a menu which you can't read - but they all have their own icon. The Language & Keyboard option has a Square with an 'A'.

Click on the first option from the menu that comes up.

You should now be given a list of languages for the system, 'English' will be written in English.

At least that's what it is on my Japanese Toshiba T-01C running Froyo (2.2) - it was the same when I had Eclair (2.1).
