my battery has just gone from about 50% to 12% in just 1 hour with nothing running. also the back of the phone got very hot. not just the processor but the whole of the back of the phone. I have a Samsung hard case on and the heat was still very warm through that.

I have had the phone since they were launched so can't take it back for refund or exchange.

I'm on the latest update KF whatever.

what's causing this. what can I do.

Remove battery, and.press hold power for 10 sec and place back in again..

tbh I never had this problem yet but my battery least 2days
 
I tried to look at the battery info and got a message 'Sorry! The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again'
 
Anything like that suggests a crash that needs a reboot. Hold down the power button and let it power off fully. Then switch it on again.

These phones are quite powerful computers. They all can do with a restart now and then.
