Welcome to the forums!

I've moved your post here to the Evo rooting forum.

It sounds like you've missed the step to install the superuser zip, not sure.

At the top of this forum is a sticky thread with the steps and probably the answer you need - check it out!

The helpful gang here can square you away in no time.

Did you flash the superuser zip file in recovery?
Try to flash that .zip file again.
Make sure the file is on the root of your SD card, top level no folders, then boot to recovery.
Select flash update .zip
Select choose from sd
Scroll down and select the Su.zip file
Reboot
Select the Su app and allow permissions to all of your root apps
That should work
Post back if you get stuck, or if it works.
