I tried to root my SGS2 and now it won't start up! It keeps showing a phone and a computer with a hazard triangle between them. Help! This is the first time I've tried rooting it and if it's bricked, I'm really screwed cos the phone's not mine.
 
Can you get into download mode?
Ie. when switched off, keep pressing VOL-DOWN+HOME+POWER until something comes up on the screen. If you can, then flash again. Either you did something wrong initially, or you flashed an incorrect or corrupted file

If not, then try a soft and hard reset
 
Are the gallery files supposed to be gone after rooting? Cos all of my images and videos and stuff aren't there now..
 
Depends on what method you chose to root I suppose.
If you did it with the best and most tried and tested method (Chenfire's cf-root) then no. All this will do is to flash an insecure kernel with CWM recovery, su and busybox
 
Mine are all gone now, so I guess I didn't use that one. I used Odin to flash the kernel in with one of those XDA stuff. Sorry if I'm not referring to them right, I did just start using an Android device. Any way to restore them?
 
i have tried this but no joy i'm still getting same triangle and then nothing very annoyed at the minute for being so stupid :-(
