Hi, I've just bought a xperia x8 off a friend, however it doesnt recognise any sim card, but i can do everything else on it, just not phone or text (incoming or outgoing)

Please help someone!!!

it is a long shot as this sounds more like a hardware problem with the SIM card reader, but you can try a software update:
