I'm back testing the waters of Android and I'm trying to be as efficient as possible with the swap.
Basically, I'm going from my Iphone 5 to the Note 2 (on Verizon). I strayed from apple about 3 months ago with the S3 but found it to be lacking especially finding out that the 5 was coming out. I sold my S3 and ordered the 5. Guess what... with the exception of 4LTE, which is AWESOME by the way, it was pretty much the same-old. So, then I see that the Note 2 is going to be released. I believe that the Note 2 is where it needs to be in terms of spec, features and OS to compete with the 5..... I hope!
What I'm unltimately looking for:
1. I need a phone that doesn't require endless tweeking and software attension.
2. I need something that has a great screen. As I get older, I want something that I don't have to squint to see.
3. I need a device that is smooth and that is efficient. I don't want to have to go through 4 commmands to do one task.
4. I need something that will work error-free and won't crash every other week.
Lastly...
5. It has to be cool and have some trend setting qualities. I like new and I like cool. I like being in the front of the bus!
Now then, the Note 2 has been ordered with the dreaded "Ship by 11/27".
(By the way, pretty Sh!tty to have us pre-order that far in advance.)
I've ordered a phone back/case, Nillkin i believe and I've already got a car charger... so I should be set on the basics. But, this is where I need the help.
1. I really want to have a seamless as possible swap so that my initial happiness is real HIGH. I really want to like the Note 2. I need to get things transfered over from the 5. I'd like to transfer the following:
Contacts
Calendars (shouldn't be a problem because I run Exchange)
SMS/MMS
Pics (might be able to simply drag and drop on my Imac)
2. I need to have as much control over notifications as possible. I've been told that "Blocking" will handle most of it. I need to silence and blackout notifications after a certain time, while allowing a few phone numbers to call in and notify me (Kids, parents, boss etc.)
3. I'd like to bring all my music and playlists over... is this possible and if so, what is the easiest way to do it?
4. What is the best backup plan for the Note 2? Obviously through Apple we have the Cloud but even better for me, it seamlessly talks to my iMac. What's the best scheduled backup for the Note 2 (basically all Android with mac users)?
By the way, I'm not a Root kind of a guy. I want to set it and forget it!
I really appreciate your help, and look forward to being around a new community.
Thanks!
