Help HERO?? application HTC Sense (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly.

FIRST OFF, Tis NOT easy to find similar problems without going nuts, so, here goes: Upon turning on my so-called HERO (??) phone this morning, I keep getting the following:
 
Yikes. You might be forced to do a factory reset to rectify this problem.

To be honest, if you want a better experience with your handset, though I never had a problem with my stock Sprint HTC Hero, you should root. You can flash a custom ROM on your handset that is more up to date than Android 2.1 and enjoy the many benefits of rooting.
