Root Hero stuck after flash

Lurker
I'm fairly new to all of this and I've probably been a bit reckless and dived straight into flashing the ROM on my HTC Hero. I'm on 3 uk and I was running a stock HTC 2.1 ROM which I installed anout 6 months ago. I've not done anything since then but tried to put another rom on yesterday.

After hours of trying ROM Manager without any luck I ended up on the screen where you can wipe cache and load from sdcard etc (sorry don't know wht this screen is called). I loaded a CRONOS ROM CG1.1.0.zip and the latest radio, it all said installed ok for both, but now I've just got CRONOS across the screen flashing , its been doing this for an hour now.

Help - I did do something with Clockwork recovery but I didn't do anything with nandroid back up. Where have I gone wrong?

You should redownload cronos, invade it was corrupted, put that on the sdcard and then boot to recovery.

(Normally you should always do a nandroid backup at this point). Then do a factory reset, a cache wipe and then a dalvik cache wipe. Then flash cronos, let it boot, then turn it off again, boot to recovery, flash gapps (from the same place you got cronos) and then boot normally.

Leave the radio for now.

Thank you. All sorted now, I did a factory reset and it works fine now. I'd actually left a couple of roms on my sdcard so, while sat in a meeting this morning, I managed to try both out. Back on Cronos now, just downloading the gapps file so I can get my apps back.

Feeling a lot happier now I've got a phone that works!
:)
